I need buttons
We should read more, let's make some hope, a lot y'all need to get a grip and I'm looking forward to these coming out.
I feel super confident this will be a great reading year. From trad to indie, new (er) releases and backlists, I’m looking forward to enjoying and challenging myself.
Books among other mediums have long been my safe space, hyperfixation and way for me to connect to others and see a way out. I’m particularly looking forward to the following.
Love from the Cosmos Feb 3, 2026. Go get that.
Tamara absolutely has the right mind frame going into this year, iykyk. It does only need to make sense to me and I won’t be explaining.
The books are bad and that’s okay to say. Bring back editors and read older books!! CRAFT.
It actually is very odd and very on purpose, whether it’s admitted or not, that some of y’all don’t read inclusively.
Wrap up this participation award esk shit, I don’t care if people make dnf lists and post reviews that aren’t a hundred percent positive and neither should you. Why is the concept of reading a book on your own volition despite whether or not someone said it was the worst book they ever read such a difficult choice for y’all?
Horror, Scifi & Fantasy are having a great time right now.
Fiction is never just fiction. Fantasy is never just fantasy.
Kink is always consensual. If there’s no consent, it’s not kink.
BLURBS!
No people aren’t lying about reading a lot of books, you’re probably just a loser with a skill issue.
Self inserting is common but not everybody is reading like they’re y/n, let that go.
Getting rid of mass market paperback has got to be top 2 stupidest things publishing has done in the past few years.
This was also a pleasant year for movies, ones I enjoyed especially were:
Wake Up Dead Man
Mickey 17
Fargo
Death of a Unicorn
Sinners
As for Tv I particularly enjoyed;
Adolescence
Heated Rivalry
The Pitt
Paradise
Foundation
Common Side Effects
Hacks
Slow Horses
White Lotus (a surprise for me esp)
IT: Welcome to Derry
I’ve mentioned before that I spent a lot of time shifting through books esp indies to try and spot those that sound promising and aren’t being forced on everybody by a biased algorithm.
Some lovely soul has seemingly created a website for Indie authors especially to input their works. Reanloforreaders.
Something something the usual support a library IF one is accessible to you, support indie bookstores and buy used if you can help it.
I’m going into this year with a few intentions in mind, finding the balance of being present but also preparing for my future, the future I would like to have and will have. There’s no time to dwell forreal. Plans and actions, more movies and tv, more several hour longs yap sessions with friends. Disconnecting from everything but people and screenless hobbies in a very real sense.
I need buttons, I’m going to find mine.
